RE: Our words are so different

I spent a lot of time in England while in the Air Force, and have an English wife, born in London. I've been trying to teach her proper English for over 30 years, to no avail...
(She also does not monitor this forum)
The term "apples and pears" is a form of Cockney expression where a couple of rhyming words are used in place of the actual word. Another example is "pen and ink" for "stink."
Gotta go to the loo, then off for some bubble and squeak.
Oh, and "A Penny for the Guy?"

Heres one for you to guess

RE: Our words are so different

I took the "Royal Scotsman" train in Scotland touring around and met a wonderful husband and wife. He was cockney and she was very English. I couldn't understand a word that he spoke but she spoke the Queen's English, which is very elegant.
Cockney English is very chopped. Funny story about him, he was a very hard worker and ended up owning a very successful air conditioning company. When he went to join the local country club, he was refused because of his 'lower class' cockney background.
The gentleman ended up buying his own golf course and showed them a thing or two! Nice crustly older guy! That was way back in '91 so I wonder if he is still around.
When I was in London last year on my way to Hungary, the pound sterling was double our dollar.... not a cheap trip for sure! My hotel (The Dorechester) was in a perfect location for London as we could walk to wonderful restaurants. Beautiful city!
MM.
I work in London, our office over looks the river thames! i went to Orlando last October, we changed 1000 pounds up and got 2000 dollars! now thats what i call a deal!

RE: Windscreen Dropped

First you need to find out why.Have you twisted the frame trying to level? Other cause may be opening is cut to large. Mine popped out and it was reseated and havent had the issue again.
We noticed the Right side had dropped when we left a campsite in France 2 weeks ago, this may have been caused by twisting the frame when leveling! but the Left side (drivers side) has been like it since we got the RV last October

Windscreen Dropped

Our Windscreen on our Damon Daybreak 2001 has dropped and we now have a gap at the top in the right hand corner and the left hand corner (daylight can be seen here) i read somewhere that there was a recall from Damon some time ago due to this problem! if not then is it a case of just having the Windscreen taken out and then resiitting it back in again! PLEASE NOTE WE LIVE IN ENGLAND!!!

RE: Delamination Adhesive Question

The delam is not as bad as you all think it is! Our Damon has a bit on the side which was caused by i leak on the roof, the leak has been repaired now, the company that carried out the work said leave the delam till you want to sell it, then have it repaired! i know people that have C Classes here in England that had delam on them when they brought them! i dont know what all the fuss is about!!!

RE: Best A Class you can buy for sale on E-Bay

It should say
ONLY IN AMERICA
Would NEVER be allowed on the roads in England!
I know someone from America who shipped there 45 foot Provost over here and there 21 foot power boat behind it! Customs at Southampton wouldn't let it on our roads as it was too long!!!

RE: ignition switch problem on daybreak

Thanks for all your replies (well no replies)
The RV problem is now fixed, the engine immobliser need to be reset as we had disconnected the ignition switch, this made the engine immobliser lock up as if someone had been trying to nick the RV! Once the engine battery had been disconnected and reconnected the problem had been fixed
